| Bush recognizes Kosovo's independence
Turkey recognized Albanian Kosovar claims to intependence, and the next day invades Iraq's soveriegnty, chasing Kurds, and extinguishing their claims for an independant country as well. This is a hypocritical world. Where as always, Might is Right. He who wags the biggest stick, gets his way. The fact that serbs for decades have been driven out of this territory by Albanians is amazing, to the point that they are 95% now, and still claiming victimization is simply preposterous. .
Cartoonists Discuss the Freedoms and Responsibilities of Their Craft
The panel also included Palestine's Baha Boukhari, Algeria's Ali Dilem, New York's Liza Donnelly, Turkey's Piyale Madra, The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Mike Luckovich, Israel's Michel Kichka and Japan's No-rio Yamanoi. According to Kichka, a cartoon has two lives, one created by the cartoonist and the other manifested through audience reactions. These two lives, he said, can take on very different characters. “Cartooning is an art that asks questions," Kichka said, adding that these questions incite discussions that could promote international peace and understanding. Boukhari pointed to the many rioters who “blindly" protested the Danish cartoons without even seeing the drawings as an example of the ignorance that hinders a constructive discussion.
Relief pitcher sleepers: Sherrill should win closer's job
The trade to bring Erik Bedard to Seattle forced the Mariners to part with strong middle reliever Sherrill. He was a phenomenal strikeout artist for the Mariners, fanning 11.04 hitters per nine innings pitched with 3.29 strikeouts per walk allowed. Sherrill's numbers were astounding across the board. He allowed only 28 hits in 45 2/3 innings of work to yield a miniscule 0.99 WHIP and strong 2.37 ERA. Sherrill will compete for the closer role in Baltimore with Chris Ray on the shelf. His chief competition will be submariner and longtime setup man Chad Bradford and Jamie Walker, who saved seven games for the Orioles in 2007. I anticipate that Sherrill wins the job for opening day. The lone concern regarding his splits is the fact that he allowed twice as many flyballs as ground balls induced.
